Federico Chiesa Likely to Miss Liverpool-Girona Game
Italian forward Federico Chiesa is unlikely to take part in Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) match against Girona FC tonight, Tuesday 10 December.
Back in August, Chiesa joined Liverpool from Juventus on a four-year contract. However, dogged by ongoing fitness-related issues, he has only made three appearances for the Reds so far during the 2024/25 season.
He last played for the English club when they took on West Ham at the Carabao Cup in September.
Although Chiesa featured in Liverpool’s U21 clash against FC Nordsjaelland last week, he was absent from an open training session on Monday, 9 December.
According to reports, the 27-year-old Italian footballer was missing in action due to an unspecified illness. It is not clear when he will return to training or match play.
As a result, he is expected to sit out the UCL match against Girona, which will be held at Estadi Montilivi in Girona, Spain.
